I
have been involved in information literacy and ICT instruction
mainly at the secondary school level since 1996, when we began
to develop and implement the Big
Six program at Neveh Channah High School in the Etzion Bloc
in Israel. Our school
website is used as a major resource of information literacy
across the entire school curriculum. Resources, assignments and
outcomes can be seen (in Hebrew) on this
site:
Some of our projects in English can be viewed here.
In 2002, Neveh
Channah was included in a list of exemplary schools around
the world which implement the Big Six Information Literacy Model.
I am an active member of the International Big Six Community having
contributed a number of articles to the Big
Six Enewsletter.
I have completed a year's course in Information Literacy Instruction
and Implementation sponsored by the Israel Ministry of Education
and Tel Aviv University.
I now help to coordinate an international project run by the Israel
Ministry of Education: Israeli Collaborative Learning Network
which implements, collaborative learning, research and website
construction. See the project website here.
I have been serving over the years as a volunteer information
specialist for various virtual
student services (Kidconnect and now the DREI Learning Center
Virtual Reference Desk AskA Service).
I am presently in a doctoral program at Bar Ilan University Department
of Information Science studying the impact of Information Literacy
process-based instruction on student achievement under the supervision
of Dr. Moshe Yizhaki.
