About
Hi, I am Sharon Peters and until June 2007, I was teaching English at an independent middle and high school in Montréal , Lower Canada College. In the summer of 2007, I begin my new role as education consultant for LEARN, an arm of the ministry of education in Québec, Canada. There I will act as the English Language Arts resource “go to” girl for the English sector of the province of Québec. I defended my thesis for an M.A. in educational technology at Concordia University in the fall of 2006. The title for my thesis is “Online Collaborative Learning for High School Students Using a Blended Approach for the Promotion of Self-monitoring Skills”. Yes, it is long-winded.
My current interests are reading any literature I want to (now that I have finished my thesis!), managing three teens and putting some organization into a messy house. You can learn more about me from my post on “Let’s Play tag in the Blogosphere“. In the spring of 2007, my students’ global projects were honoured by two awards, silver award for Global Virtual Classroom Web Design Contest and silver award from ISTE SigTel online learning. In 2006, I was very honoured to be voted as a finalist for the Global SchoolNet Online Shared Learning Award. It was a privilege to be nominated by my teaching peer, Milana Zubritskaya, in Novosibirsk, Siberia, Russia.
Some of my student projects from 2005-06 can be viewed on the school website.
